The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) decided to upgrade the services at Kuwait International Airport by inviting  proposals from investors to construct a new private terminal  and associated aircraft facilities on a BOT basis.

Gulf Consult were appointed by the winning consortium of investors to design and supervise the construction of a new airport terminal building of striking architectural character, along with all associated aviation facilities.

The Terminal has a total floor area of 10,000 m2, over three floors and one basement and contains passenger and baggage handling facilities, lounges, offices and commercial outlets.

The project has its own dedicated aircraft apron and two aircraft shelters for 8 aircraft, with enclosed hangar to follow as a Phase II development.

Gulf Consult were supported during the design phase by Mott McDonald of UK who provided specialist input on airport master planning, traffic forecasting, aircraft movements  and passenger circulation.
